Back to the Future

Gardeners have known for a very long time that walls are not barriers, but allies that give them more space and extra surfaces for plants, whether they choose a natural look or give free play to their fantasy.   It is a Theater Stage where curtains of greenery, floral traceries, plant sculptures... you could create almost anything, simply planting in the soil at the foot of the wall.

Only vines and climbing plants were traditional greenery for bringing some life and color to the walls.  Climbing plants whether they are shrubs with twining branches or annual or annual herbaceous climbers, grow in a number of different ways.  If these plants do not find and artificial or natural support, they creep along the ground.  In order to grow vertically, they must be able to lean, climb, cling and twine.

But no longer this is the only way.   Until Patrick Blanc's Green Wall Concept has dramatically changed the history of vertical gardening, and it paved the way for many new techniques, now that we can plant directly "on" the walls.
